Responsibilities

 

Dietary Cook Responsibilities:

  • Prepares meals according to planned menus, and in accordance with standardized recipes, special diet orders, therapeutic diets and other special requirements.
  • Prepares, seasons, cooks and serves for assigned meal; ensures appropriate portioned servings according to portion control standards.
  • Plans and initiates cooking schedule for food preparation to meet meal schedule.
  • Monitors temperature of hot and cold foods through food preparation and service to ensure that established temperature goals are met prior to steam table transfer and maintained throughout meal service.
  • Tastes and smells prepared food to determine quality and palatability.
  • Serves food according to portion control and as ordered by residents.
  • Inspects special diet trays to assure they are correct.
  • Prepares nutritional snacks for clients
  • Determines amount and types of food and supplies as required for daily menus.
  • Assures that food and supplies for the next meal are readily available.
  • Assists in purchasing, receiving, and storing food and supplies
  • Regularly cleans kitchen equipment and maintains sanitation standards in the department.

***Other duties may be assigned or be modified by employer as need arises.

  • Full Time / Day Shift

Qualifications

What will you need as a Dietary Cook?

  • Required Education: High school diploma or (GED)
  • Preferred Education: Education in quantity cooking and therapeutic diets
  • Required Experience: 1+ years’ experience in food service/dining services
  • Preferred Experience: 1 year food service experience in a health care dietary setting
