Responsibilities

Restorative/Activities aide Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Provides direct restorative care as assigned, completing work accurately, safely and in a timely manner.
  • Provides restorative services that include passive and active range of motion, ambulation and transfer skills, splints and prosthesis care, dining, dressing/grooming, bowel and bladder management, and communication.
  • Receives specific instructions from therapy on new residents or current residents with revisions to the restorative nursing program as necessary.
  • Works with other nurse aides and departmental staff when setting up restorative programs such as dining, grooming, or exercise activities.
  • Monitors for and provides residents with their recommended assistive feeding devices in the dining room.
  • efforts of the resident.
  • Notifies the Restorative Nurse when a resident refuses or is unable to participate in the restorative program.
  • Notifies the Restorative Nurse with a resident concern related to their restorative program.
  • .Serves as a resource and teammate to other nurse aides, working with them to provide specific restorative nursing care for each resident.
  • Assists in planning, scheduling, conducting and supervising activities/events for residents which provide entertainment, intercommunication, exercises, relaxation, intellectual development, and utilization of their talents
  • Assists the activity director or coordinator in the community with plans related to the interests of the facility and the services and needs of the residents and families
  • Encourages residents’ religious participation, coordinates with Chaplain, attends scheduled religious services, and provides spiritual material to residents at their request
  • Assists in planning and performing activities for room-bound residents including writing letters, running errands, reading, and securing material for residents with sensory and hearing deficiencies
  • Understands the process for completing the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) which consists of three basic components:
    1. the Minimum Data Set (MDS) Version 3.0,
    2. the Care Area Assessment (CAA) process, and
    3. the RAI Utilization Guidelines
  • Assists with preliminary and comprehensive written plans of care for each resident, identifying problems/needs and goals of the resident
  • Attends resident care plan meetings

***Other duties may be assigned or be modified by employer as need arises.

Qualifications

What will you need as a Restorative/Activities aide ?

  • Required Education: High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
  • Preferred Experience: 1 or more years’ experience in a long-term health care setting
  • 2 years’ experience in a social or recreational program setting, at least one of which was in a /resident  activity program in a health care setting
  • Required License and/or Certification: Certified as Nursing Assistant, Commonwealth of Kentucky
