The Staff Accountant is responsible for processing and inputting accounting information and generates reports while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulatory and organizational standards.


Skills, Abilities and Knowledge

  • Excellent communication skills to include:
    • Ability to speak and read English
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
    • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, organizations and others
    • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products including advanced/expert use of Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy



  • Processes and inputs accounting information on computer and generates required reports.
  • Accurately compiles, processes and inputs information on computer to update company general ledgers and prepares financial statements and other duties as needed as part of month end close.
  • Verifies and reconciles account balances on a monthly basis.
  • Maintains fixed asset records for assigned facilities.
  • Serves as back-up for Accounts Payable Coordinator as needed.
  • Files bank statements, source documents, and reports.
  • Assists in preparation of required government filings.
  • Prepares budget files for assigned facilities.
  • Assists in preparation of the audit.
  • Prepares daily deposits.
  • Performs positive pay for AP and PR checks for all banks.
  • Assists with the maintenance of weekly occupancy reports.
  • Maintain vehicle files including registrations, titles and insurance cards.


***Other duties may be assigned or be modified by employer as need arises.


Staff Accountant Work Hrs./ Shifts:

  • Full Time / 1st shift at Main Office





  • Required Education:                                                               High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
  • Preferred Education:                                                               Associate’s degree from 2-year College or technical school
  • Required Experience:                                                               1-year experience in accounting with an emphasis on general ledger.
  • Preferred Experience:                                                             1-year experience in accounting in a healthcare, senior living industry or long-term care environment.
