    Responsibilities

     

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Disbursement Accountant is responsible for the overall monitoring, coordinating and reviewing of the accounts payable and payroll processes while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulatory and organizational standards.

     

    Skills, Abilities and Knowledge

    3. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    4. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
    5. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, organizations and others
    6. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff
    7. Working knowledge of various software programs such as Microsoft Office products including, Word, and PowerPoint; HRIS Systems and Accounting Software
    8. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel to include:
    9. Ability to create and format spreadsheets
    10. Ability to create reports, tables and graphs to extract and provide data

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The incumbent performs job responsibilities without posing a significant risk of substantial harm to the health or safety of him/her or others while maintaining compliance with all policies and procedures of Christian Care Communities and within the parameters of the Organization’s mission, vision, and values. 

    1. Assists in the AP and payroll functions within the established accounting policies
    2. Reviews and approves weekly AP batches for approval, cost center assignment & accounting treatment Oversees the timely filing and payments to payroll taxing authorities
    3. Posts monthly payroll activity to the general ledger
    4. Ensures timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing of AP and payroll
    5. Provides various analyses regarding AP and payroll as needed
    6. Ensures that AP and payroll processes are performed using best practices with adequate internal controls, and ensure payments comply with established policies
    7. Oversees the development and maintenance of the vendor contract inventory
    8. Assists in preparation of annual budgets
    9. Responsible for the annual Form 1099 and Form W-2 filings
    10. Assists with year-end audit and other special projects as assigned
    11. Provides excellent customer service by ensuring that all vendor and employee inquiries are appropriately resolved on a timely basis
    12. Maximizes office productivity through proficient use of appropriate software applications
    13. Performs other general accounting functions as assigned
    14. Personifies outstanding customer service to co-workers, clients and vendors by acting as a subject matter resource in a timely, considerate and friendly manner, always maintaining the “Golden Rule” approach; practices patience and kindness

     

    Qualifications

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Required Education:       Associate’s degree from a 2-year college or technical school

    Preferred Education:     Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field

    Required Experience:    2 years’ related experience with accounts payable and payroll processing; intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel

    Preferred Experience:   1 year experience in a healthcare payroll setting

     

    Business travel is a requirement of position; proof of valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

    If personal vehicle is used to transport self or others; proof of insurance of $100,000 single limit of liability
